Aquabot Classic drive motor question

I'm new here so forgive me if this is not the right place to post a question to the group but it is the only I have found.

I am
learning to repair an Aquabot Classic and just removed the cover from the od style drive motor. I have seen several posts on this web site that show oil in the motor case but this one is dry inside. Is there a time that these were assembled with no oil?
