Blue Diamond

We have used the Blue Diamond robotic cleaner in our 28x18x40 L shaped pool for 3 full seasons. It cost $1,200.00 and midway thru season 2, the drive motor failed.

Had to pay $65 to send it back to manufacturer since they wouldn't ship me a new motor, and they replaced motor & returned about ten days later. The following season, one of the pumps failed and once again had to pay to send it back for repair.

Now this past season (3), with the warranty expired, the drive motor failed again. I'm fairly handy and have no trouble changing the motor out, but the manufacturer will still not sell the motor. They will only replace the motor if I send it back again.

For $1,200.00 I expect the manufacturer to be more accomodating with their customer service. I'm now in the market for a new cleaner since I can't buy the motor, and refuse to pay $65.00 to ship the thing back a third time. It's a shame, 'cause the Blue Diamond really does a nice job of cleaning the pool, but their quality control is obviously lax, and they don't cooperate with homeowners in selling replacement parts.

Although we will purchase another pool cleaner, we won't be buying another Blue Diamond. I can buy one for 1/2 the price and if it only lasts 1 season, I'll be further ahead!

The first Blue Diamond I purchased ran for 1 1.2 seasons before it stopped working. They sent me part at my cost to install. At the start of the second season it would not work, they asked for me to send it at my cost, they replaces the power cable at my cost. Dumb as I am I purchased a second Blue Diamond unit as a back up. It lasted one season, BD said they no longer have a on site repair service and asked if I send to their service company, I trued for day to get the service center to respond but no luck. I now have 2 BD in the land fill I purchased a Dolphin Premier.

The only motor I ever lost was due to sending the robot into heavy muck that clogged the bag and stopped the cooling water flow.
Otherwise, I have been using Aquabot Bravo and Blue Diamond for many many years

Every year we had to send it back to get it fixed. WE had to pay shipping and a $50 warrantee fee.

It was costing so much, I started replacing the motor myself. The part is usually around $400.

We replaced the motor so many times, it was putting ware and tare on the drive motor. Now it needs replacing.

I am not sure whether to keep fixing it myself or purchase another type of cleaner.

Same thing here. I had to send my cleaner back the first season, and right after warranty expired the cleaner keeps stopping after just a few minutes. We put it away for the winter and then when we pulled it out this season it worked until a week ago. Now, it stops after a couple of minutes again. We just can't figure what is going on with it. Customer service just wants you to send it to them, they are NO help in diagnosing the problem. It really cleans well when it works, but I will NEVER buy another one simply because every time it needs repair the first $75 is just shipping it to NJ. I will make sure I buy something that can be repaired locally. Blue Diamond does NOT stand behind their product.

Same here. First season broke, second season worked, and third season broke. I didn't even use it often. I'm done. One of the worse investments ever made.

Don't think of buying a pentair prowler instead. I have one and had the same problems as you did. They must have the same "NO customer service" as blue diamond.

Had the same issue's several times.. Drives failed and so did transformer.. garbage as far as I'm concern.. Recommend anyone thinking of this model stay away and be thankfully you were warned!
