Yes, epoxy only the broken plastic. the cover keeps the putty from falling out and only needs to be screwed down tight enough to keep it in place

I'll try the epoxy first. I'm assuming that you meant to epoxy the boss to the bottom of the j-box where it came from- not to epoxy the cover into place. Thanks!
