Dolphin won't run, says doors are open on filter area

We love our Dolphin, one of the doors has always been a little goofy, and would sometimes open as the Dolphin sunk to the depths of the pool. The door would always shut when the Dolphin reached the bottom of the pool.

Today, with the Dolphim under water, the unit would not start running. The lights kept indicating that the door was not shut.

I held the door shut under water, thinking maybe there was a sensor involved. No go. The Dolphin would not start, and the red light continued to indicate open doors.

Anyone else been able to solve this problem without returning the unit for servicing?
