Filter indicator turns on too soon

My filter light goes on after only a few minutes, even with a clean filter. I'm using the mid level filter.

How old is the unit?

Might be an early indicator that the pump will need to be rebuilt soon. They fill with brush dust and begun to pull more current which is used to determine that the bag is full.
