My 3 or 4-year-old Aquabot Classic has begun exhibiting the same "won't reverse direction" issue that I've read about in this forum. My unit's symptoms are identical to the others'; it climbs the sidewall and stays on top for minutes at a time without reversing, finally reverses for a few seconds only to quickly re-reverse and climb back up the same wall were it remains. It never crosses the pool bottom. My belts are all new and are correctly installed. The track drive system is strong and doing its job. The problem is apparently in the logic/control assembly.
I also noticed it no longer starts moving immediately upon power application after sitting overnight. Now it remains in the same spot for a minute or two before the drive tracks begin moving. This delay in motion does not happen if I toggle the switch off and on again after it's been running for a while.
I have purchased three new Aquabots over the years and they all died after 3 to 5 years of normal use. I'm considering trying a different brand this time.
