Pool Cleaner only covers a small area of my pool

I have purchased a secondhand Davey PoolSweepa Wallclima Pool Cleaner - only 9 months old. Looking at the pictures in your article "Maytronics Dolphin Repair And Troubleshooting" it looks identical to the Dolphin pool cleaner so it would seemed to be a re-badged version of the same cleaner.

This cleaner worked perfectly in the previous owner's fibreglass pool that has similar dimensions to my pool. However, no matter where in the pool I start the cleaner after a short period it navigates to the middle of the pool and then spends the remainder of the 3 hour cleaning cycle going back and forth from side to side in a corridor roughly 5 feet wide. The difference between my pool and the previous owner's pool if that his is rectangular and mine if kidney shaped. I'm led to believe that these robotic cleaners map the pool during their initial clean and then use that information to help with subsequent cleaning cycles. I'm wondering if the reason for the cleaner doing what it does is that it 'thinks' it is still in the previous owner's pool. If so, is there some kind of reset to make the cleaner 'forget' the previous pool.
