Robot sucking cable

My robot worked flawlessly for years. Suddenly this year the cable won’t float and gets sucked into the robot. How do I fix this or do I need to replace the cable?

Sounds like the cable has hundreds of kinks from being piled up and never recoiled.
If that is the case then the cable needs replacing
